Integrated furniture maker and retailer Timbor Home Ltd received funding from the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to set up high-end ‘IKI’ kitchen stores across the country. Presently, Timbor Home retails through the Timbor Cucine format, which targets the price conscious spending class. The IKI Kitchen stores are positioned to attract the premium upper-end of the Indian market.

The modular kitchen market in India has been growing at 50% per annum and is expected to maintain this growth rate for some more years. The IKI Kitchen concept comes at an ideal time for Timbor Home as it will help the brand tap the nascent modular kitchen market.
Commenting on this new focus area of the company, Anant Maloo, CMD of Timbor Home Ltd. said, “Through IKI Kitchens we are bringing to India the newest concept of ‘Intelligent Kitchen’ by offering customised hi-end kitchen solutions through a world class range of cabinetry, shutters, storage and hardware, including exclusive handles and special kitchen light fittings. IKI Kitchens will be showcasing Hettich’s award winning Red Dot design and many similar state-of-the-art products. With the Rs 6 crore funding from SIDBI, we will be able to put in place 30 such high-end kitchen stores across all the major cities in India during this financial year.”
The urban choice
IKI Kitchen stores will offer modular kitchen concepts that are highly durable, functionally practical and user friendly, by ensuring good ergonomics and efficient space utilisation, apart from the stylish design.
According to interior designer and proprietor of Eco-Sylvia Interiors, Snehangshu Chakraborty, “Today modular kitchens have become an integral part of urban homes. Small nuclear families do not view the kitchen as a place only to cook but a cool hang out zone in the house.”
With the IKI Kitchen concept, Timbor Home has also targeted the most dynamic consumer segment which enjoys a high purchasing power.
