Checkpoint Systems Launches New RFID Solution for Apparel Retail

Checkpoint Systems Inc, a leading manufacturer of shrink management systems, has launched new Radio- Frequency Identification (RFID) encoding solutions for apparel brands and their retail partners.

Checkpointís new RFID technology offers suppliers and retailers several benefits, which include expanded RFID service bureaus, high-speed bulk tag commissioning, in-plant printing, new RFID tags for merchandise visibility and loss prevention, among others. The RFID service bureaus are based in Asia, Europe and Central America, and work to ensure the smooth functioning of the companyís encoding and printing processesóthese include activities such as encoding unique EPC numbers, printing variable data, shipping the labels to suppliers and tagging locations worldwide.

High-speed bulk encoding guarantees fast and accurate encoding of EPC numbers, without the need to open boxes and handle individual garments. This encoding happens at a distribution centre; RFID tags are applied on multiple items in a single box at operational speed, thus reducing the time needed to encode large quantities of merchandise. It also includes best-in-class hardware and software options to deliver the highest levels of accuracy and encoding speed. At times, apparel brands and retailers manage the tagging process from remote locations that may not have reliable internet service. In many cases, this prevents them from obtaining the EPC numbers needed to print and encode RFID on demand.

The new in-plant service allows companies to manage the complete process locally: facilities such as number serialisation and tag printing can be availed from the companyís websites. Checkpoint also offers a line of fully-integrated RFID tags that combine branding information with tactile and loss prevention benefits that were formerly unavailable to traditional hard tags and apparel labels. The all-new line includes the RFID Full-Colour Graphic tag, which is a high-quality graphic tag that meets retailersí branding needs.

Also up for grabs are three new tags for apparel merchandise usageóHigh-Kick, Whirl and Triumph. With these tags, Checkpoint addresses the needs of leading apparel retailers and suppliers seeking certified, standard-based tags for greater visibility into merchandise location and movement and loss prevention, among others. All the new products and services work in conjunction with Checkpointís existing Open EPC Number Management Solutionóan easy-todeploy, cloud-based software application that provides complete global EPC number management. The new RFID technology will increase sales, reduce out-ofstocks, reduce working capital and enhance loss prevention efforts.
